WE EXIST TO ENSURE THAT A SINGLE MOTHER OR A WIDOW WHO HAS WORKED HARD TO OWN A HOME DOES NOT LOSE IT TO A FORECLOSURE

MISSION

Our goal at the Women's Home Preservation Fund is to give deserving single mothers a helping hand. These are widowed, divorced, and never married mother. They are warriors who often face unspeakable challenges and limitations to protect their families and raise responsible children.

About 1 in 5 of all American children under 18 are raised by single mothers* and 49% of African Americans under 18 are raised by single mothers. As a group, these women occupy the lowest earning bracket in our societies and when a financial crisis strikes, they face a higher risk of losing their shelters.

We intervene where a mother owns her home. Oftentimes, as it is the case with tax sales, she will be losing a house valued hundred times over the tax that she owes.

We review each case on its own merit and provide a grant to the value of the amount needed to redeem the lien. The grant is paid directly to the City's Property Tax Office.
